Elio

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 7, 2026

This policy explains what Elio collects, why, who processes it for us, and the choices you have. Elio is provided by Jeffrey Ngare, a sole proprietor based in Texas, United States. Contact: support@studywithelio.com.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use advertising or analytics trackers.

What we collect

Account

When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and a Google account identifier. We do not request your contacts, calendar or other Google data. If you add a second email address to your account, we send it a verification link. The name and profile photo you add during setup are stored with your account and shown only to you.

Study data

What you do in Elio: your answers and attempts, time on questions, review schedule, progress and readiness history, notes, cards you create, files you upload, your exam date and goals, scores you choose to enter, and your settings. This data is stored on your device so Elio works offline, and synced to our database so it follows you across devices.

AI requests

When you use an AI feature, such as the tutor, the coach or a file upload that Elio reads for you, the text of your request and the study context it needs are sent to an AI provider to produce the answer. We keep a record of each AI request with its cost, so we can apply your AI allowance.

Device information

For each device you use, we record a device class (phone, tablet or desktop), whether Elio runs as an installed Home Screen app or in a browser tab, when the device was last seen, and how long its first sync took and how often it paused. We use this to decide which devices to support better. We do not record your browser's user agent string, and none of this includes the content of your study.

Payments

Paddle processes payments as our reseller and Merchant of Record. We never see or store your card details. Paddle tells us your plan, its status and dates, and Paddle's customer and subscription identifiers, so we can unlock your plan.

Reminders and notifications

Elio keeps an inbox of notices in the app, such as your daily plan reminder, a new sign-in to your account, or reaching your AI allowance, and deletes each one after 90 days. If you turn on push notifications on a device, your browser gives Elio a subscription for that device: a web address at your browser's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla, depending on the browser) and two encryption keys. We store those, with the device's browser name, your reminder time, quiet hours, time zone and which kinds of notices you want, so we can send the notices you chose to that device and nothing else. The push service receives only an encrypted message for your device; we use no other notification provider. You can turn push off for a device or pause all notices in Settings, Notifications, or block Elio in your browser's site settings; we delete a device's subscription when you turn it off there or when the push service tells us it is no longer valid.

Technical data

Our hosting providers process your IP address and request details to deliver and protect the service. The Fly.io gateway at app.studywithelio.com writes a log line for each request, including your IP address, and Fly.io keeps those logs for up to 7 days. Elio's database does not store your IP address.

Access requests

If you ask for access to the beta, we store your name, your email address, your exam month and the one line you write in a free-text box, so we can decide whether to invite you and contact you about it. We keep a request until you are invited or declined, and delete it within 90 days after that; email us to have it deleted sooner. We do not use it for marketing. Neon stores it for us. For a new request, Resend sends the owner a notice with your name, email address and exam month, at most ten notices a day; the line you write stays in the database, and Elio stores no IP address with a request. While you fill in the request form, this website keeps what you typed in your browser tab's session storage, so a request that comes back unsent can be sent again without retyping. That copy never leaves your device, and it is removed when the request is received.

These providers process data in the United States and in other countries where they operate. AI providers process requests under their API terms. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Who at Elio can see your data

Elio is run by one person, the owner named above. No screen in the app shows one learner's study data to another person, the owner included. The owner can reach the database directly to run the service, and does so only to fix a problem, to answer a request you make, to keep the service secure, or when the law requires it. The owner does not browse accounts, and does not use your study data for anything other than running Elio for you.

Everything in your account is kept separate from other accounts by the database itself, not only by the app, so one learner's request cannot return another learner's rows.

Cookies and local storage

Elio uses cookies only to keep you signed in and to protect sign-in. It stores your study data in your browser's storage so it works offline. This website sets no cookies of its own. The checkout page loads Paddle's checkout, and Paddle may use cookies or browser storage there to process your payment and prevent fraud, as its privacy notice describes.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and study data while your account is open. When your account is deleted, we delete your study history, plans, notes, progress, AI tutor history, device information and sign-in addresses from our database. After that, the same email address can be used to open a new account.

We keep only a deletion record that contains no email address and no study content: a one-way scrambled form of your account number and a count of the rows removed, so we can show the deletion happened.

Some copies last longer, outside our control or yours:

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to access your data or object to how it is used. Email us and we will respond within the time the law requires.

Age

Elio is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Your study data is separated per account in the database, connections are encrypted, and access is limited to what the service needs. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at the address above if you find a problem.

Changes

We will post any change here with a new date, and tell you in the app or by email before a material change takes effect.
