Elio

Why I built Elio

Hey, I'm Jeffrey.

I'm studying for the MCAT again, so I know how heavy this exam can feel. It's not just the content. It's the hours, the second-guessing, and wondering if all that work is actually adding up to something.

I built Elio for my own prep first. It keeps every question I answer and every card I review, figures out what I should study next, and shows me exactly why. When it doesn't have enough to go on yet, it tells me that instead of guessing.

Somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like it was just for me. I kept thinking about students taking this exam while working, like I am, and students who can't afford the most expensive prep out there. I wanted to build something that could really help them too.

Outside of studying, I'm applying to medical school, doing health-services research and working in healthcare administration, so I know what it's like to fit studying in around everything else.

More than anything, I want you to close Elio understanding a little more than when you opened it, and trusting yourself a little more too. Not because an app told you that you're doing great, but because you can see your own work and what it's building.

Right now it's a closed beta. I read every access request and send every invite myself.

A few things it won't do: it won't count streaks or reward you for opening the app, it won't promise you a score, and it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the AAMC.

If something isn't working, or you just have a question, email me at support@studywithelio.com.
